forms a blotch mine

Food Plant: Heracleum sphondylium (Hogweed)

Notes: The leaf discolours as the larva mines through the parenchyma of the leaf. The mine is inter-parenchymal, greenish-yellow, not always readily visible, an irregular linear-blotch, with few scattered frass grains. Pupation is outside the mine. The distribution is thought to be local, believed to be confined to the South e.g. London ,Dorset, Wilts, Somerset and Huntingdonshire
