Egg: on the leaf

Mine: May-July (Hering 1957)

Notes: Forms a large transparent mine at the leaf edge (shown in top photo, of upper leaf surface). The egg at the start of the mine is covered in a glossy black secretion (shown in bottom photo, of the lower leaf surface, at top right). The pupa is formed inside the mine and is not in a cocoon.
