Food Plant: Many Campion spp. (Caryophyllaceae), especially Red Campion (Silene dioica), Dianthus sp. (Pinks) and Lychnis coronaria (Rose campion)

Mine: Bivoltine: late Spring and late Summer

Notes: A common miner, forming a white linear blotch mine (the blotch may obscure the linear portion of the mine) in both native and garden plants. These mines are very similar to those made by Pegomya flavifrons. In the case of Pegomya flavifrons a single white lozenge-shaped egg is laid under the leaf. The puparium is shown in dorsal, lateral and ventral view (top to bottom photos).
