Food Plant: Plantago media (Hoary Plantain). Elsewhere P.major (Greater Plantain). Mine: July-November Notes: Several larvae mine a leaf and the mine starts lower surface but then is mostly upper surface, being irregulary linear. It is initially green but becomes white (and rarely black) as it ages. It finally almost fills the petiole, where pupariation usually takes place. The white puparium is usually lower surface, with the anterior spiracles projecting through the epidermis. A very rare miner in the UK.
