Food Plant: Phillyrea latifolia (Mock Privet)

Mine: March, April

Notes: A blotch mine with copious dense dark frass filling the mine, leaving clear edges. The mine may occupy the whole leaf. The larva is shown in dorsal, ventral, abdominal (ventral) and lateral (anterior) view (from top photo to bottom). The prothorax has two sclerotized bands, with prosternal scleroitizations seen ventrally. The legs are small. There are two sclerotized bands on the last abdominal segments - seen ventrally. The larva leaves the mine to pupate. Found in France, Italy, Croatia and the islands of the Mediterranean, from the Balearics to Crete.
