Food Plant: Eupatorium cannabinum (Hemp Agrimony).

Egg: on the stem near to a node.

Mine: Sept-April; July-August

Notes: the larva feeds in the stem, usually in a node of a flower stalk and a gall is formed in smaller stems and frass is extruded from this. The larvae will leave this in the autumn and hibernate in a mine further up the stem. It pupates in the stem and the entrance to the pupa is partially plugged with silk.
