feeding signs

Food Plant: Ficus carica (Fig)

Egg: upperside of leaves

Mine: July-August

Notes: The upper parenchyma of the leaf is eaten and the leaf becomes skeletonized as the green parts are eaten, leaving the veins. The larvae feed under a slight silken web and the leaf may contract as this occurs (as shown on several leaves). Pupation is in a tough white cocoon away from the feeding. A recent colonist to the UK.
