< back
case at tip of plant

Food Plant: Salicornia (Glasswort)

Mine: September to October.

Notes: Larva feeds internally on seeds and fleshy spikes. A case is formed from the tip of a spike, and feeding continues for a short time on other spikes. The larva is infrequently seen, but the image here shows the white exposed areas where the larvae break off the spikes as they feed internally and move to other parts of the plant.
