Food Plant: Acer platanoides (Norway Maple)

Egg: On leaf-stalk in summer; on samara in spring

Mine: June, September - May

Notes: In June mines the wing of a samara, mining into the seed with a short gallery. The cocoon is formed on the samara, which often falls to the ground. The second generation mine the petiole initially then the flower bud and forms a cocoon on this. Both generations may form cocoons on the tree trunk.The egg is shown (right centre) and signs of feeding in the seed
