Food Plant: Quercus (Oak), occasionally Castanea (Sweet Chestnut) Egg: Upper surface of the leaf Mine: October - November Notes: A gallery leads to blotch with slit in lower epidermis. Larva white, head and pronotal plate blackish-brown (as shown, top mine). The early instars do not have ventral spots (unlike E.albifasciella as shown, bottom mine).
