Food Plant: Dryas octopetala (Mountain Avens)

Egg: underside of leaf (close to margin, or on the edge of a leaf)

Mine: April-July; September-October

Notes: The mine, filled with black frass, follows the leaf margin for about 1cm then abruptly turns and forms a yellowish-brown blotch, which occupies half the leaf. The larva is yellow (as shown in mine). Found in The Burren in Ireland and Northern Scotland.
