Notes: The mine closely resembles that of S.anomalella and adults must be bred to identify this rare species as both can occur on this host. The mine closely follows the edge of the leaf before doubling back. Cocoons are formed at the base of the leaf (usually in the groove of the petiole) or base of a leaf stalk. The amber coloured larva has a brown head. The habitat was mixed scrub with limestone outcrops and mines were only found here. No mines were found on Burnet Rose in more open habitats.
